I love criminal minds! It is very interesting to profile people. When watching the episodes, I usually try to participate and profile as I learn their techniques. I highly recommend this show to everybody who likes to be challenged and enjoys the thrill.
I got closed captioning using a Philips VCR/DVD 3345 machine!

I have no idea why but using the same red, white and yellow cables, I finally got closed captioning when I switched out my multi-region Opppo DVD player for my cheapo Philips VCR/DVD combo that I got at Target a year ago.
I suggest experimenting with the video plug in as many outlets on the tv set as it will fit to find closed captioning. I am using a more than ten year old big box tv set and a newer but cheapo VCR/DVD to get cc. I also get cc from my twenty plus year old VCRs.
I find the Mandy Patinkin episodes painful and exhausting to watch. The show is much easier to watch with Joe Mantegna. Mandy's character acts like he has a heavy heart. But he's hardly in the episode The Tribe which is a complete tongue in cheek joy of Native American stereotyping. Gregory Cruz even uses the same accent as Evan Adams in Smoke Signals. And he can TRACK Unsubs just by looking at the New Mexico brush. If you love Mandy, then I recommend the dvds for Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George and the movie Yentl (Avigdor is so much more than Inigo Montoya) and the cast recording of Broadway's Evita.
p.s. When Mandy responds that "Not everyone looks" when an unsub's father defends his son's early voyeurism, Mandy's response echoes the Torah's instruction to give women privacy in public by NOT looking at them which is what Hotch does in another episode when he keeps his eyes to himself when he shares the elevator with an attractive women. It's these small little winks that make this show enjoyable for me.

I love this series. It is both suspenseful and entertaining at the same time. I especially enjoy Reid the young genius who has to is maturing and still growing up and still making "young man" mistakes, as he is helping to solve crimes. And the fatherly role Gideon has towards him. I enjoy this series over CSI, because it is not quite as melodramatic as some of the CSI's are. I think this is more realistic of a show.

Criminal Mind is a show that you can't stop watching. I started and trust me I can't stop, it is well written and the way they solve the crime. What a good show.

I love this show, so I knew I'd love the dvds. Criminal Minds is my guilty pleasure. I watch every episode on the edge of my seat - even when I watch them for a second time. This is different than CSI in that this FBI team analyzes behavior. There is suspense, drama and some witty banter. Every now and again I enjoy a night curled up on the couch with the BAU team.
